This is not strictly speaking the same as the signal to noise ratio in analog communications, as that would be the ratio of interesting to uninteresting articles, which could be infinite if all articles are interesting.
This is the primary metric for judging the quality of a feed, and in coping with InformationOverload. Ideally a feed would have a signal to noise ratio of 100%, i.e. all articles are interesting.
Temboz keeps track of the SNR for you if you use the "Thumbs up" icon to flag interesting posts. The AllFeedsPage will by default first show you the feeds with unread articles by decreasing SNR. If you have little time to catch up with your reading, this helps identify the most promising articles to focus on first. You can also sort on SNR irrespective of the presence of unread articles, which is a good way to identify candidate feeds for culling.
